One record company had never failed to please the feet, bringing truly soulful sounds to dancers worldwide, and was happy to provide disco, funk, and soul too. Funk, reggae and soul sat in the background, but the dancefloor’s most basic beat ruled. As the 70s became the 80s, commercial Black music in the US was ruled by one style: disco.
